Passion and pain begun in 1991 by former dj of the year Andy King in Worcester on a Monday night at Images nightclub .

Every nightclub in Worcester was playing full on party music and boring classic house tracks so I thought that a alternative student was muched needed in the town .

The venue was booked and the first night was promoted to death we filled images with over 400 people on a Monday night !

Upstairs DJ Steve Aspey played Rave tunes and hardcore dance and Andy King played Goth indie and plenty of rock .

Passion and pain was off and by 1994 Andy was operating 5 Passion and Pain nights every week in Oxford Walsall Halesowen Coventry and of course Worcester now at another venue on a Saturday night at the Legendry Picasos .

These were mad days we you to get people from all over the Uk coming to the nights including many members of bands ie Charlatans James Stone Roses Wonder Stuff Pop will eat itself .

After working as a alternative club dj in 1983 and going mainstream during the rest of the 8os working as a club dj all over the uk 6 to 7 nights a week operating 5 club nights during the 1990s { I was so worn out and tied all my ideas had dried up } more and more dance club nights were starting and alternative music was becoming old hat . One by one the nights closed Coventry 1997 Walsall 1999 Halsowen 1997 I tried other citys but my heart was nt in it anymore !

By 1998 Picasso had closed in Worcester and we stopped operating in Worcester for six months until we started at Gonzos or as it is known now Evolution which Passion and Pain as a club night has been operating since 1999 .

Andy King is still the resident DJ with the help op of Robbie Tibbers and Gav luce he also is the creater and Managing Director of wwwdjacaedemy.org.uk largest company for DJ tuition in the uk .
